Colon Cancer Doesn't Define Me! It is my test for my testimony when this is all finished!! "-)

I've created this blog in order to keep up with my journey as I sail through the next 6 mos. of chemo. I wanted a forum to keep others' informed, especially for those times I don't have the energy to make contact. However, my friends and family are my life...so I'm sorry if I bore those who read this with pictures of them. I wish I could put a picture of each person who has touched my life in some small way on here...Much love, Leah

I enjoyed so much being with you, Steve and the girls yesterday. I know you weren't feeling well but it was good to be there with ya'll during the afternoon. I pray that you will be feeling better soon and prayers will be going up for God to give you a burst of strength
during the rest of your treatments.
Love to all and congratulations to Atlanta West choir. I have always enjoyed it tremendously when I visted their. They are awesome..

About Me

Leah: July 16, 2008 was a life changing moment for me. I woke up after a colonscopy to hear the nurses trying to find Steve.They immediately whisked him off to a room and closed the door with the doctor and two assistants. I knew something was wrong. Very quickly he came out of that room towards me with a face I'll never forget. "Leah, they found a tumor, it's bad, you have to have surgery, I'm serious". The diagnosis is that I have Stage 3 Colon Cancer. I've had a colon resection surgery where part of my colon was removed and went through almost 8 mos. of chemotherapy. The cancer had grown through all 4 walls of the colon and into 1 of my lymph nodes. It is a very aggressive cancer. My Surgeon said they think it grew in 6-9 mos. The Surgeon said if I had not gone through with the colonscopy that in 3-6 months my colon would have been totally blocked and I would've collasped and died..thus why it is called the silent killer! This is the 2nd most common cancer in the United States. P.S. I've never had problems with my colon nor do I have a family history. Please get your exams..you never know. I sure didn't..
