Colon Cancer Doesn't Define Me! It is my test for my testimony when this is all finished!! "-)

I've created this blog in order to keep up with my journey as I sail through the next 6 mos. of chemo. I wanted a forum to keep others' informed, especially for those times I don't have the energy to make contact. However, my friends and family are my life...so I'm sorry if I bore those who read this with pictures of them. I wish I could put a picture of each person who has touched my life in some small way on here...Much love, Leah

This is somthing writen by your grandpa Bush.
"When the day has been long and your work has gone wrong; your beaten, discouraged and weary;
a sob in the heart has stifled all song and life for the moment, seems dreary." There is more but I don't want to put it on the internet where someone can steal it. But when I read your blog I thought this may be a good description of how you feel today.
You can't be up all the time, sometimes words of "encouragement" seem hollow. when you don't feel good there is nothing wrong with saying so.

Leah: July 16, 2008 was a life changing moment for me. I woke up after a colonscopy to hear the nurses trying to find Steve.They immediately whisked him off to a room and closed the door with the doctor and two assistants. I knew something was wrong. Very quickly he came out of that room towards me with a face I'll never forget. "Leah, they found a tumor, it's bad, you have to have surgery, I'm serious". The diagnosis is that I have Stage 3 Colon Cancer. I've had a colon resection surgery where part of my colon was removed and went through almost 8 mos. of chemotherapy. The cancer had grown through all 4 walls of the colon and into 1 of my lymph nodes. It is a very aggressive cancer. My Surgeon said they think it grew in 6-9 mos. The Surgeon said if I had not gone through with the colonscopy that in 3-6 months my colon would have been totally blocked and I would've collasped and died..thus why it is called the silent killer! This is the 2nd most common cancer in the United States. P.S. I've never had problems with my colon nor do I have a family history. Please get your exams..you never know. I sure didn't..
